Real Madrid want Man Utd target Carvalho to replace Chelsea or Arsenal bound Sami Khedira

REAL MADRID have waded into the battle to sign Sporting Lisbon star William Carvalho.

Manchester United and Liverpool have both been linked with moves for the Portugal midfielder in the recent months.

And now Carlo Ancelotti's Champions League winners are ready make a move for the 22-year-old as they look to replace the Premier League bound Sami Khedira.

Khedira is wanted at Chelsea by former Real boss Jose Mourinho.

The Blues manager is on the lookout for a defensive midfield partner for Nemanja Matic, and the German international fits the bill
